Artist Spotlight - Gene Ezell

Gene Ezell is a singer/songwriter/musician who lives in New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Signal Mountain, Tennessee. He has been writing lyrics and music for over 30 years. Most of his work is Contemporary Christian, Praise and Worship, Southern Gospel and Country.
In 2012, he was the national songwriting contest winner for Songwriter’sCafe.com with ‘We Surrender’; a finalist in the 2012 Contemporary Christian Music International Songwriter of the Year; and a finalist in Inspirational Country music Association’s Songwriting Contest.



Some recent music/songwriting successes include:
  • ‘We Surrender’, is published in LifeWay Worship’s catalogue; won a national songwriting contest, and will be released on radio by CCMNI in March 2013;

  • ‘I Go To Calvary’ is on Triumphant Quartet’s cd which will drop in March 2013 (#1 Gospel Quartet in USA 2009-12);

  • ‘One Man Can’ was selected in NSAI’s contest as one of 11 songs for their 2011 Holiday cd and ranked #2 on CCMNI’s national Christmas song chart;

  • ‘You Never Give Up On Me’ finished #2 in Urban Channel’s 2012 final competition and #5 in 2012’s National Gospel Competition on OurState.com.

Gene is a member of several music and songwriting groups, such as Nashville Songwriters' Association International, BMI, GMA, and Songwriters' Guild of America.

He is married to Cynthia Ezell (42 years), and has one daughter, Megan, who lives in Nashville. Megan is married to Alex Helton and has one son, Samuel.
He is a college professor, author, soccer coach, member of a worship team, songwriter, singer, and airplane pilot (commercial).
Gene won a National Songwriting Contest in 2012 with his song, ‘We Surrender’, and his song, ‘One Man Can’ rose as high as #2 on Contemporary Christian Radio for Christmas songs in 2012. He has had numerous cuts with recording artists and several other songs placed with publishers.
